The Ballyhaunis Language Cafe has been nominated by Mayo County Council for Pride of Place 2023 Awards in the category of Communities Welcoming New Communities.
The IBP Pride of Place Awards is an all-island competition by Co-operation Ireland that acknowledges the work that communities are doing across the island of Ireland. The competition focus is about people coming together to shape, change and improve daily lives in their communities.
Mayo has enjoyed considerable success in the all-island competition during recent years with overall wins for Belcarra Community Group and Ballina Lions Club in 2020, Ballina Community Clean Up in 2021 and Achill Community Tourism achieving Runner-Up in their category in 2022.
Judges will be visiting Ballyhaunis on August 30th to hear presentations from the Community Council and Language Cafe participants, as well as performances from Le Cairde Ballyhaunis.
Winners of the competition will be announced at a ceremony at the Armagh City Hotel on Friday, November 10th.
Ádh mór ar gach éinne a bhí páirteach!
