Community Hall Grand Opening

Updated: Jun 12

Having recently received our last grant drawdown on the LEADER programme which we commenced in 2019, and having installed our cinema under the Community Centres Investment Fund, we marked the opening of the Community Hall on Mayo Day (May 4th, 2024).

Then minister Michael Ring TD came to the hall on Mayo Day 2019 to tell us we had gotten LEADER support. Five years later we will have him back for Mayo Day 2024 to cut the ribbon on our hall.

This is an occasion to thank our Community Council volunteers, our donors, helpers and supporters everywhere who made this project possible. The hall was handed over to Ballyhaunis Community Council by the Diocese of Tuam on a long-term lease for the benefit of the community. With local and international donations, LEADER funds and EUR 150,000 in borrowings we created a comfortable space for all.
