Ballyhaunis Tidy Towns is happy to announce that we have received funding of €3500 from The Community Foundation For Ireland for our Community Biodiversity Action Plan.
Our town has a wide variety of natural habitats including the which boasts woodland, hedgrows, open space and old stone buildings surrounded by the River Dalgan. This funding will allow us to identify and classify local habitats with a recognised ecologist, who will develop a plan specific to Ballyhaunis with recommendations to preserve, protect and increase the town's biodiversity.
We look forward to working with the Abbey Trust & Partnership, local landowners, residents associations, Mayo County Council Parks, businesses, schools, other community groups and individuals who have an interest in protecting our town's environment.
We will announce details about this project at a later time so please stay tuned.
