We're delighted to share Ballyhaunis Language Cafe has been nominated for Mayo County Council's second annual Cathaoirleach's Awards. This award recognises the individuals and groups that work quietly behind the scenes to make our communities stronger, more vibrant, and caring.
Ballyhaunis Language Café was born in late 2018-early 2019 after a conference on integration organised by the national government with local groups. This local platform allows locals of all backgrounds to meet and engage weekly in English, French, Spanish, Slavic, and Irish.
In the inaugural Cathaoirleach's Awards, Annagh Magazine Society and Ballyhaunis Tidy Towns were nominated. Annagh Magazine Society won in its respective Publication category.
The awards gala will be held at the Breaffy House Resort in Castlebar on the night of March 2nd 2023.
